Biography

I began in photography at age 10.  From that early stage I read, shot and shot some more photos.  By doing so I taught myself both the mechanics and aesthetics of photography. In 1991, a photographer friend of mine suggested I start my own business.  I began shortly after, specializing in photographing High School Seniors in outdoor environmental settings as an option to the standard portrait services offered at the school. This was a niche that was quite successful. Weddings, family portraits, sports photography and much more became part of Osborne Photography’s services.

Passion for Photography

Although photography is a business for us, it is much more.  We are passionate about creating images of all types. Landscapes, waterfalls (my latest fad) and animals are the favorite subjects and any opportunity to capture these subjects is one of our greatest joys. We have discovered over the years that not only do we enjoy creating images but we love teaching others to do the same.  Three years ago I created my own short course in both Basic and Intermediate photography.  Cindy and I have had the privilege to work with over a hundred people starting on the basics and helping them to go as far into photography as they want to.  From this came the idea to provide a field trip type of experience for our more advanced students to allow them to apply what they were learning into real-life.  Some of our students have really become talented photographers in their own right and on occasion, assist us in portrait, wedding and advertising shoots. It is fulfilling to see others grow to love photography and to find their own niche in the hobby. Because we are intent about training photographers, they sometimes become a part of the business.  If you hire us for a photography session, don’t be shocked to see others with myself or Cindy who are assisting and learning.

Education and Experience

I chose to attend Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC where I received an Associate Degree in Photography. Although RCC was a local community college, the school was ranked in the top three institutions in the country for photography training. There I met the young lady who would later become my wife. We developed into a talented team, both with photography experience and training which is in essence, Osborne Photography. To this day, Cindy and I work together and enjoy all the aspects of photography.  She is not only very able behind the camera but has an eye for the little things that make great photographs. Beyond being my aesthetic advisor, she is the computer imaging guru of the business. She can work wonders in Photo Shop that turns a good image into a great image.  Cindy has helped tremendously in my transition into the digital world.
